What is Warrior 1?

What it Warrior1?

Warrior1 is located in 500sq ft, high ceiling garage that houses the best gym and fitness community in Durham Region, Warrior1 Training is a Oshawa based company founded and owned by local strength and conditioning coach Robbie Craig. We are a business dedicated to helping people of all ages and abilities pursue and achieve a higher quality of life through exercise and healthy nutrition. Our training system covers all aspects of fitness. It includes conventional barbell strength work, Olympic weightlifting, running; short and longer distances, gymnastics, kettlebells, plyometerics and mobility training. It is designed to increase strength, power, speed, endurance in aerobic and anaerobic capacity and flexibility. This style of training challenges the body to adapt quickly both physically and mentally. It is tough, effective and most of all fun! Warrior1 Training focuses on getting your body to an optimal composition and producing better athletic performance. If you wish to lean out, put on muscle, get fast, get strong or all four, this is for you! Before you ask; No ladies, training with heavier weights will not turn you into a muscle bound beast that tears phone books in half. That’s simply not possible. What it will do is make you stronger, leaner and more confident.  Barbells are for everyone and Warrior1 loves the barbell in a big bad way.

In 23 words:

Barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells, running, jumping, pushing, pulling, sweating, swinging, throwing, stretching, getting fit. Lean meats, veggies, fruit, nuts and seeds, sleeping, feeling great!

What is a training session like?

A typical workout would begin with a dynamic warm up to prepare the body and mind for the movements to come. Then either a strength workout; involving low repetition compound barbell movements, Olympic weightlifting or some skill work on a gymnastics movement.  Depending on your goals and abilities we would then rest for a few minutes before performing a short, intense full body circuit program, a focused conditioning workout with prescribed rest or do assistance work on the movements already performed. We then cool down with stretching and mobility work to prepare ourselves for the next training day. We don’t redline our workouts every day here, we train to your goals.  We will be testing your progress every 5-6 weeks through 1-5RM lifts, conditioning tests or taking body measurements. Of course, your program and workouts will be tailored to your individual goals. We are here to make you better.

What is a Mobility session like?

In a mobility session we aim to improve your athletic performance by increasing range of motion in your joints and improving tissue quality.  Our method utilizes  bands, rollers, lacrosse and tennis balls and pipes to fix your tight spots. You will be given a program to perform on a daily basis that will address your personal needs and set you up for great performance and prevent injuries. This stuff is amazing and shows immediate change in the body that you can see and feel. Your job and/or your sport can have repetitive movement patterns that cause tightness and imbalances in your joints and soft tissues, we will help you regain your posture, health and most of all, performance.

What is a nutrition session like?

During your nutrition session you will go over your current eating habits through food journal evaluation. We will discuss your current health and body composition and set some short and long term goals, then provide you with the tools to reach them. The nutrition package includes a meal template and recipes and if you give it an honest go, you will succeed. We use the Paleolithic approach to nutrition, which is easy to follow, tasty and foolproof for improving health and body composition. Whether you are looking to lose weight or gain it or just look great naked, we can get you there.
